Mountain Climbing in Wyoming
If your idea of a good time is being strapped to a quarter inch rope while clinging fiercely to an outcropping of rock not even big enough to hold your entire fingertips, then you’ve got to experience the amazing variety of mountain climbing in Wyoming. Okay, you don’t really need to be quite that hardcore; non-adrenaline junkies can also partake in mountaineering or the less nerve wracking bouldering near Jackson Hole. Many people don’t realize that the area is one of the top rock climbing destinations in the entire United States. Both the Grand Tetons and the Wind River ranges are exceptionally suited to the sport and provide ample opportunities for any skill level or interest.
For experienced climbers that enjoy a challenge, there are many routes in the Teton Mountains that were laid by some big names such as Paul Petzoldt and Alex Lowe. There are both sport climbing opportunities with tricky puzzles and longer trad routes that challenge your endurance. Hoback Shield, Rodeo Wall, and Boulder City are all renowned both locally and nationally as some of the better routes in the region.
But you don’t have to be Spider Man to enjoy climbing around Jackson. You can have a lot of fun just making short climbs around town. And our condos put you really close to the action. As always, be sure and pack raingear and allow yourself time to adjust to the elevation before attempting to climb.
